Who We Are
My name is Pam Biagi, and I am one of the owners of DogDaze Pet Care along with my best friend, Pat Ottensmeier. We have actively been boarding dogs in our home, and pet-sitting outside of our home since around 1985. I am retired from the veterinary field and Pat is also retired, so a lot of our time is dedicated to pet-sitting. Nearly 100% of our business comes from referrals, which makes us very proud. We are somewhat selective about the dogs that board with us...we can't take excessive barkers; and we WON'T take dogs who are not current on vaccines - unless there's a medical reason that they cannot take them. We DO accept dogs who have yearly titers to determine the level of 'vaccine' in their system. Dogs MUST also be on flea preventative...we trust you to take care of that and be honest about it. Other than that, age, nor size, nor breed really matter. If there are special- needs pets, we do everything we can to accommodate them and be sure they are as comfy as possible.
We both find this a very rewarding and enjoyable career. Animals know no end to love – and that’s how we feel about them.
What We Give You
Pet sitting is a natural extension of our love for animals. We get to enjoy lots of different breeds of dogs, cats, birds, etc., without having to adopt them all. Through the years we have made some wonderful friends, both two-legged and four-legged. Our business has grown over the years merely by word of mouth, which we feel is the perfect compliment to us and what we offer.
When you put your pets in our care you will be hiring two avid pet-lovers, each with a strict work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility. Whether your pets come to us, or we care for them in your home, you can rest assured that they, as well as your home, will be totally safe and cared for.
We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, and our sensitivity to even the slightest changes in pet behavior. We have the experience to recognize situations that may require medical attention, such as urinary tract issues, joint pain, digestive issues, etc., and we address these issues appropriately.
I have a great relationship with the veterinarians with whom I worked for years, so we have access to quick answers if we need them. This is especially important in senior pets, puppies, kittens, and pets with existing health issues. We are both comfortable and competent giving subcutaneous fluids, insulin, pills, and other injections. I have been trained in CPR, as well, though I have never had to use it.
In the 25+ years we have been doing this, we have made great friends, and been blessed with the love of countless pets. Needless to say, this has more than enhanced our lives in so many ways. We look forward to this continuing for many years to come.
Please Note: If your pet requires medication, please be sure all medications are in clearly-labeled bottles. If they require refrigeration, they must be clearly marked, as well, and easy to find, if we are coming to your home to care for them. If they are staying with us, we would appreciate it if you would provide whatever medium you use to administer the pills, i.e., peanut butter, cheese, etc. If your pet is prone to storm fear, or separation anxiety - please speak to your veterinarian about appropriate medication for your pets. This can make a huge difference in their anxiety levels. If they can not take medication for some reason, you may want to look into Thundershirts, available at www.thundershirt.com. We have quite a few clients that have tried them with great success...the seem to work for dogs who are destructive, as well.
