What are your hours?
For our in-home boarding, we are available from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday – THIS CHANGES FOR THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS DAY, OR NEW YEARS DAY. During these particular holidays, you need to drop your dogs off THE DAY BEFORE by 3 p.m. We do ask that you always call before coming, as we do take care of pets outside our home. The rule is: IF YOU DON'T GET AN ANSWER - DON'T COME YET. We will call you back as soon as we get the message. Please try to be prompt in your arrival, as there are pets outside our home that depend on us too, and we schedule their care around your drop-off/pick-up times.
What do I need to do to reserve boarding, pet sitting, or house sitting?
For daily pet visits at your home, or over-night pet-sitting, we do require a meeting unless you are established clients. For your convenience, you can fill out your contract on this site and it will come right to us. NOTICE: If you pay through our website, you must add 3% to your total for the fees that we are charged. It's best to call us before payment so we can give you the proper total. We're sorry to do this, but PayPal charges us.
During our visit, we will meet your pet(s), and have you show us where you keep food, treats, etc. We’ll go over the routine you would like us to follow, as well. Our visit will usually last around 30-45 minutes. We do not charge for this visit. WE DO REQUIRE PAYMENT UP FRONT. Unfortunately, we have had too many people just 'forget' to pay us...this is how we pay our bills, so, please consider that when making your plans. **Note: If you give us a garage door opener, you must also give us a key in case of a power failure.
How long will you stay each visit?
The length of time we stay at each visit is dependent on the needs of your pet. If they need to be leash-walked, then we will stay until your pet has done his/her business, and had a good walk and some exercise. If your pet is just let into your back yard, then we will stay and play, if warranted, or just sit with your pet after we let them out. Our visits usually last around 30 minutes – again, depending on your pet(s). Some pets require more attention, which we will happily give.
Do you provide other services when pet-sitting at my house?
Yes, included with your pet sitting visit are services such as administering medications, bringing in mail/newspapers, taking out trash, alternating lights, watering plants etc. We are happy to help with any special requests you may have. Unless you request something out of the ordinary, we do not charge for these extra services…
What if my pet becomes sick while I am away?
We will talk with you about this at the initial meeting at which time you can give us your instructions. We will always try to call you and tell you about your pet's condition before we do anything, and then let you decide what you’d like us to do, unless the condition is life-threatening…at which time we will act first and call you later. In this event, we will have you speak with the veterinarian so that you can authorize all treatment and make payment arrangements. If we can't reach you, your signature on our contract will authorize us to make the decisions using our best judgment.
Do I need proof of vaccination?
Unless there are medical reasons that preclude your pet being vaccinated, we do require proof of vaccinations if you are boarding your pets at our home. This is for the safety of your pets as well as ours, and the other pets we take care of. We do require that they have a current Bordetella vaccine for kennel cough. If they are not current, please try to get it at least 1 week prior to your starting date, so that they are properly protected, as this is a highly contagious, airborne disease. Should your pet be boarding in our home, they must be current on their heart worm preventative, as well as flea preventative. Again, this is for the protection of ALL of our clients. NOTE: PLEASE TREAT YOUR PET WITH A TOPICAL FLEA PREVENTATIVE BEFORE COMING - THAT'S ONLY FAIR TO OUR PETS AND THOSE THAT WILL BE BOARDING WITH YOUR PETS...
If you stay at my house, what is the routine?
If Pat stays at your home while you’re away, she will get there between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the evening to stay the night. She will usually leave in the morning at around 9 a.m., depending on her schedule, or the schedule of your pets if they have certain needs. She will come back to your home mid-day to check on things and let your pets out again, give medications if needed, and then come back again in the evening between 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. to stay. If your pet requires a mid-afternoon visit, there will be a charge of $10. Pat charges $50 per night.
How many times a day do you come to visit my pets?
We will do as many visits as you request, but no less than two visits for dogs, unless your dogs have access to the outdoors. If your cats are indoors and have ample food and water, we will come once a day or every other day, depending on what you want. In the event of natural disasters, inclement weather, (ice, snow, freezing temperatures), etc., we will make extra visits to be sure your pets are safe, warm and taken care of. If this means that we have to take them to a boarding facility (if we are full), then you will be financially responsible for it.
How far will you come for daily visits?
We currently work in Woodstock, Kennesaw, North Cobb, Canton, Holly Springs, and Acworth. If you are unsure if your location qualifies, please just give us a call. We do make exceptions.
How can we contact you while we are away?
The best number is Pam'es cell phone, which is: 770-634-4527, or Pat's cell, which is: 678-333-3130. You can also email us at dogdazepetcare@gmail.com. This is automatically forwarded to my cell phone. If you do not reach us right off the bat, please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible. We do check our voice mail/email quite often. Please take our card and/or numbers with you on your trip, or put them in your cell phone, so that you can call us when you are on your way.
How do I make reservations?
You may call us at the numbers listed on the website. You may also email us at dogdazepetcare@gmail.com. You will submit your boarding contract through the website...it is interactive. Please fill these forms out completely. I will send you a confirmation email when your contract has been received, and ask you any other questions necessary. Please note: scheduling is on a first come, first served basis. Please be sure that your plans are firm before scheduling, within a day or two, as we base our availability to others on who we have scheduled already. If you are a regular client that has previously submitted a contract, and the information is still current, you can just call or email us with your date requests.
What about boarding, pet-sitting, or house-sitting during the holidays?
If your dates are during holidays for boarding at our home, or pet sitting in your home, we require a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT at the time you submit your contract. Please remember, this is not a hobby, it is how we make our living...So, please only book with us if your plans are complete.
YOU CANNOT DROP YOUR PETS OFF ON THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS DAY, or NEW YEARS DAY. YOU MUST DROP THEM OFF NO LATER THAN 3 P.M. THE DAY BEFORE A HOLIDAY... THIS IS OUR FAMILY TIME AS IT IS YOURS...this does not include other national holidays, such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, etc.
Keys/Key Exchange
We require a copy of your house key and a garage door opener, if possible, at our consult. If you live in a gated community, we will need a gate card, or access code as well, prior to your leaving. We prefer a gate card, if possible, because it's way more convenient, and much faster for us. If you have an alarm system in your home, we will have you put a code in for us that you can remove upon your return. It is your choice to disable your alarm system while you are gone, but this will be at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible for the consequences if you choose to do so. If you give us a garage door opener, we still want a key in case the door fails to open due to power failure or some other reason. If your garage door opener works by code, we will give you a code that can be deleted later. Your key will be securely stored in our home with no address information.
If you like, we can keep your key on file for future use, but leave your garage door opener at a designated place in your home on our last visit. If you do not want us to keep your key, we will make arrangements with you after your return to bring them to you. We do not charge for this.
Cancellations/Refunds/Early Return for Outside Pet Visits
We understand that sometimes trips get cut short, and you may come home early. We have no problem with that as long as you let us know so we don’t make a needless visit. If you fail to let us know, and we do come, you will be charged for that visit. NOTE: If YOU ARE BOARDING AT OUR HOME AND YOUR TRIP IS CUT SHORT, THERE WILL NOT BE A REFUND!
Holiday Cancellations
We do not do over-night stays during Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years -- except in emergencies - if you have an emergency, please call us. Please see above for other holiday policies.
What happens in the event of a natural disaster?
In the event of inclement weather or natural disaster, we will use our best judgment in handling the care of your pet(s) and home. If certain circumstances beyond our control keep us from being able to get to your pets, or follow your instructions, DogDaze Pet Care will not be held liable in any way. Please know that we will do everything humanly possible to get to your pets in the event of a natural disaster, and will do whatever is needed to care for them. We will enlist any help from anyone we can find to take care of your pets. If we cannot reach your emergency contact, or other family, we will do all that we can, and most likely take them to a local shelter or to our own home. Any expenses incurred for boarding, vet care, etc., will be your responsibility.
Can my pets stay in my back yard, or be hooked to a chain or wire run?
If your pet is allowed to stay outside while you’re away, you will be responsible in the event that your pet jumps, climbs, digs under the fence or is injured while unattended. You will also be responsible for any pets or people that enter your enclosure. While we understand that your pet may be accustomed to being left alone outside, we feel that this can be a liability that you must take full responsibility for. This includes dog or cat doors, any type of fencing, or other containment method. We will NOT (UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES) take care of dogs that are chained or put on a wire run outside…we feel that this is cruel, dangerous, and, in most counties, it is illegal. If you have cats that are typically allowed to go outside, we would prefer it if they were left inside during your absence, but that is totally your responsibility. You know your cats better than we do.
Will you clean up any accidents that occur?
We will certainly clean up any unforeseen accidents in your home while you are gone. We are not, however, responsible for the cleaning supplies, or for any stains that may be a result of your pet(s) soiling your carpet. We do clean litter boxes daily, and will happily replenish the litter.
Payment
Payment for all pet-sitting, over-night stays, or boarding must be made at the time of your consultation or drop off. WE ARE A CASH-ONLY BUSINESS. We appreciate your understanding that this is our business, not a hobby, so your payment is crucial to our operation. Please don't leave and forget to leave us payment...that's just wrong! Thank you for your cooperation!
PLEASE NOTE - WE DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS!! If you decide to come home early, and have reserved boarding space in our home, you will be charged for the full time that you reserved...we have to do this because we are so small...and can only hold so many pets. For example: if you reserve 12 days of boarding, but come home in 5 days, or whatever, we have most likely turned business. We can't get that revenue back...and remember, we are a very small company...in order for us to give your pets what they deserve, revenue is crucial. We hope you understand this....and appreciate that you will.
