How It Works
Coming To Your Home: If you only have dogs, we will come 2 or 3 times per day, based on your pets' needs....and your schedule. Most of our client's pets can go 10-12 hours between potty breaks - HOWEVER, if you feel your pet needs 3 visits per day, we will only charge $10 for the mid-day visit.
We would prefer to be the only pet-sitter while you are away for liability reasons. However, if you choose to have someone else visit your home while we are under contract, we will require their contact information and we want them to have our information, too, in case of an emergency. If you have a dog-door where your pets have access to and from the house/yard, and only require one visit for feeding, that's fine, too. We can discuss this further at our initial meeting.
If you only have cats and feel that they only need one visit, we have no problem with that. If they have ample access to food and water and you only want us to come every other day, that's fine, too.
At each visit we will feed your pet(s), based on their established schedule(s), give medications, if necessary, refresh your pets water, play with them, and walk or let them out to exercise. If you have cats, we will clean the litter boxes daily, and feed them or top off their food. Depending on the time of day for single-visit contracts, we will bring in your mail, newspapers, and vary the lights that will be on during the night. If you have plants that need to be watered - we will do that as well. We will also take down/bring up your trash cans if needed. Should you have any specific needs that don't fall within the parameters of our usual services; they can be discussed at the consultation. PLEASE NOTE: If we have a busy pet-sitting schedule, we will try to get to your house as close to the same time each day as possible. In other words, a noon visit may be a little earlier or a little later.
Overnight house-sitting is on a first-come, first-served basis depending on Pat's schedule. Her normal routine is to arrive at your home at around six or seven o'clock in the evening to stay. After spending the night, she will leave mid-morning the next day...normally around 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. Most pets have no problem going the distance from when Pat leaves in the morning, and when she returns in the evening...(between 8-10 hours) but all pets are different. If your pet requires mid-afternoon potty breaks, or playtime, we will only charge $10 for that visit, as opposed to our normal pet-visit fee of $20. We will charge a normal $20 fee if you are leaving in the wee hours of the morning, and require an initial early visit, or arriving in the very late evening on your return, requiring a late night visit.
If you want to make reservations for boarding your pet(s) in our home, please go to our Boarding Contract tab above, fill out your contract and submit it, as well as the Medical release. We do require that you mail, or bring your dog's vaccination history prior to your start date. You may always call us to speak to us personally about your needs, and we can answer any questions you might have at that time.
NOTE: If you are a regular client who has submitted a 'contract' during the previous year, you can fore-go the contract and just call us or email us the date request.New clients MUST fill out the contract completely.Keep in mind that the proof of vaccination is for the safety of all of the pets that we take care of.
What to Bring if Boarding in Our Home: Please bring food (not a 40# bag if you can help it); a clean bed, if your pet has one; treats (please, nothing they are not used to - we don't want any digestive upsets); toys and any medications that will be due while your dog(s) are here. It would be appreciated if your pet is somewhat clean when you bring them. Please do not bring bowls, and please put your name on whatever you bring with a Sharpie pen. Also, be sure to list what you plan to bring on your contract. You are welcome to bring toys and treats - whatever you feel will make your pet more comfortable while he/she is here.
IF YOUR PET IS ON MEDICATION, PLEASE BRING CHEESE, PEANUT BUTTER, OR WHATEVER YOU NORMALLY GIVE A PILL WITH.
NOTE: Please DO NOT change your pet's diet just before coming, and DON'T bring any treats that he/she isn't used to.This is a recipe for digestive disaster!
While you're away, feel free to email us or call us for information about how your pet is doing. Sometimes this is important for children who haven't been away from their pet(s) before...and we don't mind taking the time...if you'd like, we'll even send you a picture through email of your pet playing. We want you to feel totally secure that your baby is having a good time and is happy and healthy.
ALSO - if you would like us to post pictures on our Facebook page while you are away, just let us know. To 'like' us on Facebook, just do a search for DogDaze Pet Care, select the 'like' button near the top, and then we can post pictures that you can access from any computer.
